Baby Dedication

We are finally well....for now! Yay! Finally.

So in the middle of all that sickness we had the baby's baby dedication at our church. Of course it was the weekend he was running a temperature, so I was praying hard that he would be better by Sunday. As long as he was well enough to get up on stage and let the preacher hold him for a minute then I would be good. So my prayers were answered and his fever broke that Saturday afternoon. His dedication went very well. My parents came in town for the event. It was so nice to have them there and know that they are just as happy about it as we are. Even my Grandparents (that couldn't drive all the way from GA because of illness) sent the preacher a beautiful letter and donated some money to the Preschool Department. Have I mentioned that I have an awesome, amazing family??!!

Here are some pictures from the dedication.

Tired of Being Sick

I know, I know it's been forever! I'll have to do a couple of posts to catch y'all up on everything that's been going on. We'll start with this....I'm sick! AHH!

Well it all started the Friday before last. The baby woke up that morning around 8 (that's late for him) with a temp. of 101.5. That's the highest temp he's ever had and he's never been sick before so I kind of panicked. I called the Pediatrician's office and got him in pretty much right away. They ran a flu test on him because that has been going around here BAD. It came back negative (YAY). So they said it was just a virus and there is nothing they can do about that (boo). We had a really busy weekend, so this was horrible timing (more on that later). Anyway, Saturday he woke up with a temp. of 102.7! Poor baby! We kept alternating his Tylenol and Motrin and by that afternoon his fever broke. From that point on he was fine. What a trooper.

So fast forward to exactly a week later. My throat starts hurting....not a good sign. Saturday morning I went to the doctor and come to find out...I have strep. So I went ahead and got the penicillin shot (SOOOOOOO painful!!!!!) hoping it would clear it up quickly. Well needless to say 3 days later, it hasn't'. Seriously, this sucks! I was hoping it would go away quickly, but I guess not. I'm starting to feel a little better today but still not great. I'm tired of not having any energy and being stuck in the house. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Now, the baby's been coughing for the past two nights. My friend's baby, who is the same age as mine and is always around mine, has croup. Sooooooo I'm just guessing that's what were gonna have next.

When will this end???!!! We need to get better!!! Prayers please :)

Ahhhhhhhh, What A Great Week!

So we are back from our WONDERFUL, relaxing vacation! It was soooo nice. We had perfect weather and when I say perfect I mean in the 80's, cool breeze, no humidity, just all around nice. It rained one day, Thursday, but that's ok...we just shopped! Haha! The ocean was absolutely breath taking. No seaweed and no waves. I mean really! It was like a swimming pool. It didn't even scare the baby to get in it. And speaking of the baby....he had a great time. He loved the sand, water, staying up late, hanging with his Nona (his new fav person) and Big Pape, taking long afternoon naps, and eating lots of new foods. He really seemed to enjoy himself. He definitely got my love for the beach. Anyway, I will post some pics later this week. I'm still busy trying to get us settled in back home. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

So we are going on vacation tomorrow! YAY! I'm so ready. We are leaving early in the morning and driving to my parent's house in Alabama. Then we'll all leave headed for Florida Sunday morning! I hope we have good weather. And I hope the baby travels and adjusts well. I'll be back with plenty of pictures! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

9 Months

My sweet baby boy turned 9 months last Saturday! Can you believe it??? I can't! Time really does fly by. Even though I went a whole 26 (almost 27) years without him, I can't imagine my life without him! He's my little sidekick! He goes where I go. He has blessed my life more than he will ever know. He has changed me! He has made me a better person. Everything I do, I do for him. One of the most special gifts he has given me is a more personal and closer relationship with the Lord. Really....my son saved my life, my eternal life! I can't even put into words how much I love him. I want to be the best Christian Mother to him. I want him to know God's love and how full his life can be having Jesus Christ as his Saviour. I know he will ALWAYS be watching and listening to me, so that is the best reason to be a living example for him!

We went to his 9 month doctor's appointment last Friday. It went really good (minus the 2 hour wait). My big boy weighs right at 22 lbs and he's 29 inches long. Told you he was big!!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

YAY!!!!!

I saw this commercial yesterday that made me soooo happy and brought back soooo many childhood memories!!! You wanna know what it was???? PETE'S DRAGON!!!! They are re-releasing that movie! I had completely forgotten about that movie. Does everyone know what I'm talking about? It's a movie about a boy and his dragon that no one else can see. The actors are all real people but the dragon is a cartoon. I HAVE to by that for my baby! And I have to admit...I kind of want it for myself! Ha!

New and Exciting Challenge

Starting this Sunday I'm the new co-teacher in the 2 year old Sunday School room at my church! I'm super excited about it! I started out wanting to volunteer a couple of Sundays in the nursery and ended up being a SS teacher. I really feel like God has put me where he wants me to be. I worked with the 3 year old class in VBS this year and absolutely LOVED it. I am really looking forward to taking on this new challenge and see where it takes me! Please pray for me, my fellow teachers, and our children. I feel so blessed to be able to tell these precious children about God! This Sunday is our Promotion Sunday so we'll have all new kiddos. I'm sure some of them (if not all of them) will be a little unsure of the new environment. Hopefully they'll all adjust well. Also, my little one is moving to a new classroom too! I hope he does well. He hasn't really had any separation anxiety so lets hope it doesn't start now.

Oh and one more week and we're off to the beach!!!!

Quick Update

I found out Sunday that the girl that visited my Sunday School class has cyst on her ovary. So far the baby is fine but they are watching the cyst. If it happens to burst it could be very harmful to her and the baby. Just continue to lift her and the baby up in prayer! Thanks! I hope everyone is having a good week!

Family

Lately I've been thinking about how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family. I have parents that have been together for about 30 years and still love each other. Actually, I can honestly say that I never even heard them disagree let alone fight! They raised me in a Christian household that was full of fun times and love. They both worked hard to provide for me and my younger brother. It's not until I had a child of my own that I realized the "greatness" of their parenting. I realize the sacrafises they had to make for us and the hurt/worry they had to indure when we messed up. I thank God everyday for my Christian parents. Without them there is no telling where I would be and what I would be doing in my life.

Without getting into too much detail......I look around at other familys and see them lying, hurting, and backstapping each other! How can family do that to each other! I mean really! When everybody else fails you, your family members are the one's that are supposed to be there. Not the one's to go behind your back and befriend the one's that hurt you! It doesn't make good sense to me.

Anyway, God has truely blessed my life with wonderful family and not just immediate family. I have wonderful, Godly Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, etc. Seeing the way other families act towards each other really makes me appreciate this. I think this is one of the greatest blessings God has given me. I want to pass this blessing on to my son. I am truely dedicated to giving him a loving, Christian home environment......he deserves it!!!!!

Prayers Needed

Hey everybody in blog land! We had a pretty awesome and relaxing weekend, again! I LOVE the weekends. I LOVE my husband being off and spending time with our family. It doesn't even matter if we just lay around the house, I LOVE it! Friday Adam got off early so he cooked us dinner. I LOVE when he cooks. He made fried pork chops, rice and gravy, and asparagus! He is a wonderful cook. He should seriously have a recipe blog, haha! He would NEVER go for that! Then Saturday we ran some errands and then we went out to eat with our friends and their two kids. Their little boy is only 2 weeks older than my baby boy. We went to Macaroni Grill, YUMMY! Then Sunday we went to church and ate at Mamaw's. It was an all around wonderful weekend! :)

That being said, I have something on my mind. Sunday a girl visiting our Sunday School class told us (during prayer request time) that she was 19 weeks pregnant with her third baby and she has been having a lot of problems. Then during the middle of class she went to the bathroom, when she came back she said she was bleeding again and needed to go to the hospital. We offered to drive her but she said she was fine. Anyway, I'm really worried about this girl. Her and her baby have really been on my mind. I would like for everybody to please take a minute and say a prayer for them.

This whole situation really scares me. I know I would like to have another baby one day, but I am really scared about it. I'm more scared to have a second child than I was to have a first! I think it's because now I know the love that you have for your child. It is really indescribable! I just can't imagine going through something like that. I just have to keep in mind that God doesn't give you anything you can't handle and that He can get you through anything. Please keep this girl in your prayers! She needs it!

Bunco

Bunco was sooo much fun last night! If you know of a group around you, I definitely recommend you go! It was nice to have a little "me" time out of the house. And the look on my sweet baby's face when I came home was the BEST part of my day! He was so happy that I was home! That makes all the hard work worth it! It was his little way of say "I love you, Mommy"! He's the best!

Happy Birthday...

to......ME!!! haha! Today is my 27th birthday. I don't really have anything special planned. I'm playing Bunco for the first time with some of my friends tonight. I'm pretty excited about that. You know you're getting old when Bunco on your birthday excites you....haha! Oh well, it should be fun. I have had so many friends and family call or write to me today and it has really made me feel special! I appreciate every one of them! It has been the best part of my day!

Last week was VBS at my church. Me and four other girls in my Sunday School class had a room full of 3 years olds. And by a room full, I mean about 20. It was a lot of fun. All of us teachers enjoyed getting to know each other better and I think the kids had fun too. I definitely plan on doing it again next year.

That's about all that's been going on around here lately. This week everything is back to normal and me and the baby are just recovering. Now we are looking forward to going to the beach with my family next month! Can't wait!

Why???

Right now I'm sitting here (baby's napping) trying to figure out why in the world I left my parent's house and came back here last weekend. OK, I know that sounds bad. But seriously! My husband is having to work loooonnngg hours everyday and it's starting to get to me. Not that I need help with the baby, I just miss him...A LOT! I miss my friends back home and my family too. It was so nice to be around everybody for that week. It's really hard living this far from them. It would be nice if I could just drive down the road to see them every time I got bored or lonely. Really I do know why I came back here last weekend.....Adam. Point blank, it sucked not seeing my wonderful husband everyday. I love being with him (even it is for 2 hrs in the evening). I guess we just have to sacrifice things sometimes.......

Anyway, VBS (vacation bible school) is next week. Better enjoy the quiet time now! Haha!

A Week Of Fun, Friends, and Family

WOW! Where do I start! The past week was sooo much fun! Two Saturdays ago (does that make sense?) I decided that I would take the baby to my parent's house in Alabama. We hadn't been there in a few months, so I figured it was time. Plus, we were already planning on being there for the 4th so I figured why wait??? So Adam took us and we met my parents half way in Mississippi. We had such a good week! I got to see one of my good friends and her son that I haven't seen in about 4 years, layout by the pool everyday, hangout with my bestie and her little girl, eat LOTS of Taco Casa (like everyday!), and spend tons of time with my parents and brother! Here's a little recap......

Sunday me and the baby went to church with my parents (Big Pape and Nona). It's the church I grew up in so I always enjoy going back and seeing everyone. Then that afternoon my best friend Melissa's daughter, Marley, had her 2nd birthday party. I can't believe she's 2 already! So me, the baby, and Nona (my Mom) went over there for a little while. It was so cute, Dora themed!

Monday me and the baby met up with my friend Kendra and her little boy Nate. I haven't seen Kendra in about 4 years, so I have never met Nate (he'll be 3 in November). We met at Taco Casa, ate, and talked and talked and talked. It was so good to see her again. We picked up right where we left off! I can't believe I went that long without seeing her, we definitely won't go that long again!

Tuesday my brother, Kyle, came to town from New York. I never get to see him since he live so far away and he's only seen the baby once since he was born. I went with Pape (my Dad) to pick him up from the airport that night. He didn't get in until about 9:30. It was really good to see him too, we are really close and I miss him already!

Wednesday me, the baby, and Uncle Kyle just relaxed by the pool and didn't do too much. Thursday me and the baby went back over to Melissa and Marley's house. It was Marley's actual birthday. We visited, the babies played, and we lounged around in Marley's baby pool she got for her birthday. There was nothing "baby" about this baby pool. All of 4 of us fit in it....comfortably. Actually, we could have fit a couple more people in there! HA!

Friday Adam came! YAY! I missed him so much while we were there. So did the baby! His face lit up when he saw Adam. He just laughed and laughed. It was the cutest thing ever! Later that day my Granny, Papa, Aunt Sheila, Uncle Steve, cousin Lisa, her husband Jason, and their four kids (Austin, Hunter, Cole, and Maggie) came in from Georgia. It was my Granny's 83rd birthday so we had a little party for her that night. Did I mention I made the cake???? Haha! It turned out good and everyone loved it (sigh of relief, ha).

Saturday the 4th, we had a FUN and LOOONNNGGG day. We had a corn hole championship going on (if you've never played that you totally should, it is a lot of fun). Me and Kyle placed 2nd, my cousin Hunter and his Dad Jason won. We all swam, shopped, and ate (too much). Then that night we had karaoke and fireworks. My parent's really know how to throw a party. It was a blast!

Sunday we had to get up early and drive home. Adam had to work a little that evening so we had to hurry back.

It was a really great week! I can't wait to go again. I'm already missing everyone so much. It so nice to be around family and friends that love and care about you. There really is "no place like home"!

Hope everybody had a great 4th of July weekend!

Beach Trip Recap

So we had a pretty good time at the beach. Besides some of the unnecessary drama that ended up happening....it was fun. The baby really liked it. I wasn't sure how he was going to react. We took him down to the water almost as soon as we got there (after a little nap, of course). I thought it might be too loud for him, but it wasn't. We stuck his feet in and he screamed! The water is still pretty cold so I think it shocked him. It hasn't really had a chance to warm up yet, it'll be better when we go in August.

The next day we set up our canopy and just relaxed next to the water. The baby fell asleep on the quilt we had for him. Then when he woke up his sister buried him in the sand. And when I say buried, I mean really buried!!! Haha! He was eating handfuls of sand. I was a little panicky about it, but I figured I better get used to it...I do have a boy after all!

He also really loved the pool. They had a heated pool so it was nice and warm. I think he could have stayed in there all day! He looked so relaxed in his little float.

All in all it was a pretty nice trip.

Teeth......

These top teeth are killing us! I have had a screaming baby for two days now and there is no sign of it getting better! As frustrated as I get I still feel soooo bad for my little one. That's really what makes it sooo frustrating! I want to take his pain away! I'll give him some medicine, it'll help for a little bit and then he'll start screaming again. I can't stand seeing him in pain!!! The bottom teeth didn't hardly bother him at all so I'm surprised these are hurting him so bad. Please keep my sweet baby in your prayers. And maybe after he gets the top two he'll have a break for a little while!

Destin....Here We Come!

WOW! It's been a rough week so far...and it's only Wednesday!!! The baby is working on getting his top two teeth in and they are killing him. Seriously, the bottom two were not that bad. He has been really whiny...especially today. I just feel soooo bad for him because there is nothing I can do :(. On top of that I've been trying to work some, pack for our beach trip next week, and take care of every other little thing that mommies and wives take care of! Haha!

We had a great weekend though. We went and ate at our friends Dan and Jen's house Saturday night. Our other friends Stacy and Jeremy were there too along with all the kids. We had a really good time! And of course Sunday was great too! We went to church and ate at Mamaw's house (yummy!).

We are leaving this weekend for Destin!! YAY! I am so excited. I haven't been in years and have been having major beach withdraws! I'm so ready to be there...mainly so I can stop stressing about all this packing! I always WAAAYYY over pack. Does anybody else have that problem??? I can't help it. I just know if I don't pack it then I'm going to get down there and need it. And I just can't see buying something I already have. Anyway, I'm sure when I get back I'll have a ton of pics to share. I hope everybody is having a good week!

Here are some sweet pictures of my little man :)

It's Been A While!

So I got a new job where I can work from home...yay! It's just keeping me SOOO busy! Every time the baby lays down for a nap, I have to get on the phones. Of course I could do it when daddy gets home at night, but I would much rather spend that time with him and our baby! So needless to say, I don't have much time left to blog, clean, do laundry, wash bottles, shower, all that other stuff I usually do while the baby's asleep! I just have to work it in there somewhere! But so far, I'm liking the job. It's a pretty easy way to make a little extra cash for my family, we'll just see how it goes. It's always nice to feel like your contributing some.

We really haven't had a lot of other things going on. This weekend my 12 year old step-daughter came and stayed with us. We had a really good time. We shopped, ate, and took her to church with us on Sunday. It's nice having her around. She's a ball of fire and a great help with the baby (who, by the way, has his 2nd tooth now!).

It's going to be a busy summer for us. This month we are going to the beach with Adam's family, my family is having us over for the 4th of July, and then we are going with my fam to the beach in August! FUN! Also, throw in there working, VBS(vacation bible school), and taking some time for ourselves. It's going to be busy, busy, busy! Hope everybody is doing well and having a great summer!

Here's some pics from the past weekend!

Have You Lost Your Hearing?

Once there was a man who dared God to speak.
Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God.
And I will follow.
Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God.
And I will fight.
Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God.
And I will listen.
And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea
and waited for God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered.
He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church.
He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.
He stilled a storm, not of the sea, but of a soul.

And God waited for the man to respond.
And he waited...
And he waited...
And waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes,
not hearts: bricks and not lives, seas and not
souls, he decided that God had done nothing.
Finally he looked to God and asked, Have you
lost your power?
And God looked at him and said, Have you lost
your hearing?

Busy, busy, busy!

I know it's been a while! I've been really busy this week. I really haven't had time to get on the computer this week. This past Tuesday we had Girl's Night Out with the girls in my Sunday school class. It was so much fun. We ate at Macaroni Grill and then went back to one the girl's house and painted our toenails, got massages, and just hung out. It was an awesome time and I really enjoyed getting to know everyone better. It was the first time since the baby was born that I've gone out at night by myself. So lets just say it was MUCH needed and appreciated!

Wednesday the baby had his 6 month check-up. Everything looks great and SURPRISE...he's got a tooth coming in! This will be his first. Is it weird that I almost cried when she told me???!! He's getting so big! So he's been a little fussy for the past 2 days, but really not as bad as I expected him to be. I keep checking his mouth waiting to see that little toothy! I'll take a picture for y'all when it comes in. Haha!

Tomorrow is the Walk for Life. I'm a little disappointed at the amount of donations I was able to get, but like I said...every little bit helps. So THANKS to all of those who donated. Me and the baby will be out there bright and early tomorrow morning walking (and strolling). Hope everybody has a great weekend!

Please!!!!!!

Ok, first things first! I need sponsors! I'm doing a Walk for Life this Saturday. It raises money for the Crisis Pregnancy Center here. They offer free pregnancy test, ultrasounds, counseling and all kinds of other services. **It is a fact that 90% of pregnant women that see the heartbeat of their unborn child do not have an abortion! WOW, 90%! All you have to do is contact me at bethabernard@gmail.com and let me know if you're willing to donate. All I need is your name, phone number, and address. You can donate as much or as little as you want. It's a great cause!

Second thing, I had a FANTASTIC first Mother's Day! My baby and husband made it a wonderful day for me. It was weird being on the other side of Mother's day, but I loved it. My baby got me the sweetest card and a brand new bible. It's pink and has my name on it! It's also a NIV study bible (what I've been wanting!) How did he know what I wanted??!! I'm telling you, he's a genius! Haha! They recognized all the Mothers at church and gave us the most beautiful roses I think I've ever seen. It was so sweet! Then we went and ate with Adam's mom and Grandmother. I hope all you Mother's out there had a terrific day! You all deserve it!

All Done...And Looking Great!

Don't y'all LOVE my new blog?! I DO!!!!! Purple and blue are my favorite colors! Thanks Leslie! She's the one that made this beautiful blog, contact her if you want one for yourself. If nothing else go read her blog. It's a good one!

Good News All Around!

What a great day! Let's just start by saying that I just got wonderful, incredible, awesome news! See our insurance was giving us some problems on paying for my child birth and considering I had to have an emergency c-section this was very expensive. They finally got it all figured out and we are getting reimbursed for almost $2000! I am very happy about this!!! YAY! God does answer prays and it does work out!

The next thing is that I've been praying to hopefully find an "at home" job where I could work from home and not put the baby in daycare. I think my prayers have been answered! I had a friend recommend a place that she had worked for up until she had her baby. So I decided it was worth a shot. Well I had my phone interview today and so far so good! Now all I have to do is complete some training and I'll be ready to go. I couldn't ask for anything better. This will help us out so much!

Last thing, I know I had said that we were having friends over tonight....well not anymore. Everybody is sick! Adam's been sick all week and her little boy has tonsillitis (ewww). So we had to postpone. I just hope I don't get sick (I already feel like I am), I have WAY to much going on next week!!! Please pray for healing of everybody! Have a blessed and wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Praise Him!!!

I just felt the need to say this today....."Praise God!". I just start thinking about all the awesome things God does in my life and I just feel so lucky to have such a wonderful, loving, forgiving, and all around awesome God! Sure, I have a lot of hard times and very hard situations in my life but I get through them all with His help. Actually, I've had a lot of difficulties in the past few months. But you know what? This has only drawn me closer to Him! I know this is what he wants and I will continue to rely on Him! Honestly I don't know how people get through life without God. Believe me I've tried and it doesn't work! So if you've never trusted in God, try it! I PROMISE you won't be disappointed! What an AWESOME God we serve!!!!! Hope everyone has a blessed weekend!

Just a side note....I had a church friend call me today. I had some stuff on my mind that's been there for a while. She didn't know this, but asked me if I needed any prayers. I told her what was on my mind and we prayed together right there over the phone! Almost immediately I felt a weight lifted off of me! Thank God for Christian friends!

Rain Rain Go Away....

Just had to say this......"Will this rain EVER end?"!!!! It has been raining for 2 weeks! I haven't straightened my hair in ages!! The flat iron is definitely getting a much needed break! Haha! But seriously, all this rain and cloudiness is so depressing. I guess God thinks we need a good watering!

The Weekend Plus Some

Ok, where do I begin.....it's been a little while. Lets see, Friday we had the Crawfish Boil at our church. It was so much fun. The sun actually came out (it's been rainy and cloudy for like 2 weeks)and there was a little breeze. There was a ton of people there. They boiled 5,ooo pounds of crawfish!!! Can you believe that?

Then on Sunday we took a class at church called Discover Broadmoor (the name of the church, ha). It was awesome! Very informative! The preachers wife taught it and we met all of the ministers. They told us what they believe as a church. I really think all churches should do something like this. It helps you to know if it's the right church for you. We also had to fill out a questionnaire that will tell us our spiritual gifts and how we can use them to serve the church! Isn't that nice?! I can't wait to find out my results.

Today I got my hair done and had to take the baby with me. I wasn't sure how that was going to turn out but it went fine. He's such a chill baby. And guess what??? He sat up for the first time ALL BY HIMSELF! WOW! I was shocked! He lifted himself up and sat there staring in the mirror! He's so talented! Haha!

We are having some new friends over for dinner this Friday night. I'm super excited about it. Then next week the girls in my Sunday school class are having a Spa Night! Can you say FUN??!!! Hope everybody is having a GREAT week!
